Digital Signage Systems
Advertising is not the only purpose of digital signage either, other uses such as providing public information, relaying important messages, enhancing the aesthetics and even entertaining people waiting in line are often deployed.
But regardless of the use or location of the signage there are four aspects that most digital signage systems comprise of :
Display
The type of device used to display your content. LCD, plasmas and LED screens all have differing benefits over each other but as the technologies advance the differences are becoming smaller and less of a concern. Size is often the most important factor when choosing the type of screen for your digital signage campaign.
Content
Key to any successful digital signage campaign is content. Whatever the purpose of the content being displayed is, it needs to be as dynamic, colourful and as eye-catching as possible to gather people’s attention.
Playback
A media playing device is required to store, control and play any digital signage content. Increasingly, Players for Digital Signage systems are being networked together which has the advantage of an entire network being controlled by a single device, doing away with the need to manually upload content to each device individually.
Enclosures/display cases
The aesthetics of any display enclosure is important as is the protection it offers. Just leaving a standard TV erected in a public area is not only visually unimpressive but it could also lead to damage. And display enclosures are even more vital for implementation of outdoor digital signage where the screen has to be protected from the elements.
Software
Digital Signage software is required to send and playback the images and videos at each screen location in a network. It is also used for playback verification and health monitoring of a digital signage network. It is important to know that each screen in a network is turned on and that the content is played the way the network operator intended.
